Hey everyone!
Hard to believe Z’s only been here 18 days, seems like Mom and Dad have known her forever. Ya’ll, Laura and I are madly in love. This little baby is the most amazing thing that has ever happened to us. I realize that kind of statement coming from new parents may sound oh so redundant, but it truly is a feeling like no other and one that is hard to describe. Its kinda like walking around on the verge of tears of joy ALL THE TIME! Zoey is doing so great, honestly people we have a dream child. She BARELY cries and WE have to wake HER during the night to feed her! Pretty amazing. Its hilarious because she’s such a deep sleeper that we have to do all we can to wake her up at night. Sometimes she acts like a sack of potatoes until her little eyes creep open. We call her the naked nurser because the only way to get her awake is to get her clothes off! Its truly hilarious.
Speaking of clothes, can I just take this quick moment to say A MILLION THANKS to everyone who has sent all of these AMAZING packages. Books, outfits, cards, food…EVERYTHING we could possibly need. Expect a full fashion show in the upcoming weeks! We feel totally overwhelmed with love and know we are blessed to have such AMAZING friends and family. Dont worry we’re gonna get each of you guys back…when you least expect it :)
I know this is preaching to the choir but Laura is doing an absolutely amazing job as a mom. Simply incredible. She could have thrown out the “How To Be A Mom” instruction manual they give you at the hospital (yeah right!) because she has this innate ability to love and soothe her child. PROFESSIONAL MOM! Her poise and calm nature is shining through with each passing day. I’m so proud of her. She is waking up with the naked nurser every 3 hours during the night to feed her while she lets Dad get some solid sleep on the mattress in the dude room. I usually get up around 6 to let Brother Oz out and then come get back in bed with my girls. Zoey is sleeping in our room on a “co-sleeper” which for those who dont know, is basically like mini-bed that extends off the side of the mattress. That way Laura doesnt have to get up to feed in the middle of the night. Laura’s dad Craig set it up for us while we were at the hospital and its worth its weight in gold.
One thing we were worried about was how Ozzy would do with Zo. I am soooo pleased to report that Ozzy is doing magnificently. He LOVES his little sister. The first couple of days he was giving her the FULL BODY SNIFF DOWN on a regular basis, but we just say “gentle sniffs” and he totally calms down and gives Zoey a friendly lick! He loves sleeping next to her moses basket and cuddling up next to her on our bed. Zoey could not ask for a sweeter friend. Deep down we knew he would do great, but he has done everything possible in his laid back labradude being to impress us even more.
This week also notes the end of our 3 week in-house waiting staff. Laura’s mom and sister have stayed with us for the last three weeks and have been and UNBELIEVABLE HELP to us. Gayle stayed for the first two weeks, and Leigh has been here for the last week. Seriously, writing a book listing everything they’ve done for us wouldnt even cover everything. They are up with us in the morning, they feed us, they do our laundry, they make our bed, and most importantly they love on little Zo. I don’t know what we’re going to do without them…WILL WE MAKE IT?!!? Haha. I can’t even begin to thank them for all the help they’ve provided us. They will never begin to conceive how much that meant to Laura and I. Thank you.
Well, this new dad has gushed enough for this week. Stay tuned. TONS more pics to come. Hope to see everyone soon and introduce you to our incredible daughter. Dont be strangers!
PS- Coming next week, Zoey’s first playlist. She loves the 80s.
